INTRODUCTION

This page will introduce people to contemporary Irish Traditional Music. In the past several years I have encountered so many genuine music lovers who say that they adore Irish Music. And yet for a newcomer to the tradition, authentic and high quality Irish music is sometimes difficult to discover, as one can easily be led astray by cheesy, tourist albums claiming to represent the tradition. Titles such as "Celtic Moods" and "Spirit of the Wandering Leprechuan" are to be avoided at all costs! Within this section I will explore top bands and individual musicians, and I will provide information on thriving session scenes both in Ireland and the U.S. My hope is that the information and links will provide the curious listener or aspiring musician with a greater sense of what is going on in today's world of Irish Traditional Music.
