In the first Seminole War, Great Britain still had control over Florida, where most Seminoles lived at the time. General Andrew Jackson wanted them to move westward for Americans to settle there. The Seminoles refused, and there came the first Seminole War (1817-1818), which didn't last long because the Americans won quickly. Florida had control of Florida now, but it was quickly taken away with the Adams-Onis Treaty, which gave Florida to the United States.

T he second Seminole War, which started in 1835, started because they still refused to move. In fact, they were ready for war. The Seminoles, however, used guerrilla warfare. There were around 4,000 men compared to over 200,000 in troops. The war (1835-1842), wasted the most amount of money in warfare against the Indians. In the war, the Seminoles' leader, died in prison because he was captured. But the Seminoles would hold strong for them not to lose. By the end of the war, there was no treaty. The Indians moved from FLorida anyway. The US "won."

The third Seminole War (1855-1858), was also about land. Some Seminoles were still in Florida, and the whites wanted them out. The US won and the Seminole population in Florida fell to an outstanding 200 people.

These three wars were all about land. The US basically won all of them, and the Seminoles lost all their land in Florida. The Seminoles just moved to Georgia.
